Our Mission

The Berks County Public Works Association was initiated in 1996 by a group of concerned municipal officials and vendors of municipal-related services and equipment, to advance the theory and practice of the design, construction, maintenance, administration and operation of public works services, as well as the dissemination of information and experience upon the promotion of improved practices in public works administration and the encouragement of the adherence by public works officials to a continually higher standard.

The membership is comprised of active members, official and employees of government agencies, engaged in the field of public works; honorary members, retired officials and employees of governmental agencies who have been active members in the Association, in good standing, for ten (10) years; supporting members, officials and employees of governmental agencies engaged in the field of public works outside Berks County; and, associate members, any persons, company and/or corporation-associated persons with special knowledge, experience and interest in the public works field, desirous of aiding and furthering the objectives of the Association.

The Board of Directors of the Association is the governing body and is comprised of the following: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Past President, at least three (3) but no more than five (5) Active Member Directors, and at least one (1) but no more than (5) Associate Member Directors.

Meetings of the Association are regularly scheduled in January, April, June/July and September/October, are sponsored by Associate Members or the Association itself, and consist of a registration period, general business meeting, a program presentation and luncheon.

The program presentations are designed to bring new products and procedures to the attention of the members, new Pennsylvania Department of Transportation regulations and programs, discussion of labor relations and employee contracts, discussion of operational techniques, such as snow and ice control, etc., and visitations to manufacturing and processing facilities, all of which are greatly beneficial and educational to our membership.
